Soundcheck is supported by a Board of Directors who bring valuable professional experience and a deep, personal commitment to the mission.
Emily is the Chief Philanthropy Officer of Children's Home Society of North Carolina. She formerly was the Chief Advancement Officer at HopeWay where she led fundraising and marketing programs. Previously, Emily held the position of Director of Advancement at Trinity Episcopal School where she sat on the Senior Administrative Team and managed the Advancement department. Emily began her fundraising career at The Peace Center for the Performing Arts in Greenville, SC, eventually becoming Major Gifts Officer at Davidson College, and both Director of Major Gifts and Director of Church Relations for Montreal Conference Center in NC. Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. She lives in Charlotte, NC, and has two children in college.

Heath K Rada, Ed.D, DD, DHL
Board Member Emeritus
Jill is a social epidemiologist, policy and program evaluator with two decades of public health research and evaluation experience. Her research interests include social determinants of health, children’s health, and racial equity, and she enjoys collaborating with others to guide decision-making and strengthen program impact. Jill has a BA in Sociology from Emory University and a Doctor of Science from Harvard School of Public Health. She currently serves as Research Scientist at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) and has held similar roles at the Institute of Science for Global Policy and SAGE Partners. Jill has called Asheville, NC home for over 15 years and never gets tired of exploring the region’s biking, music, and food.

Mike has been working in finance for over 20 years. He is a Senior Managing Director for an East Coast investment firm focusing on families, foundations, and endowments. Over that same time period he has also worked with determination in the field of substance abuse prevention as the Executive Director of Valley Partnership for Drug Prevention, Prevention Specialist for FCD Educational Services, Founding Board Member and Chair of A Way Out and as a board member and treasurer of The Right Door Foundation. Mike has a BA in English from Georgetown University. He lives in Colorado with his two children.

Jill Fromewick, MS, ScD
Board Member
Will is a writer, producer, director, and actor. He recently received an Academy Award for his short film If Anything Happens I Love You, which is currently showing on Netflix. As a writer, Will was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Celeste and Jesse Forever, co-written with Rashida Jones, and as an actor, Will won a Lucille Lortel award for his performance in Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Paula Vogel’s play “A Long Christmas Ride Home”. He’s appeared in dozens of films and TV shows including The Sopranos and Brothers And Sisters. Will’s sister Bridget is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in the state of Michigan, and his other sister Mary is an acclaimed actress. Will grew up in New Jersey and resides in Los Angeles, CA with his wife and two children. He has a B.A. in English Literature from Trinity College, Hartford, CT.

Sarah Hughes
Board Member
As Assistant Dean for Law School Advancement, Sarah Hughes oversees fundraising and alumni relations in the Law School. She is involved in all aspects of advancing the Law School's mission through fundraising, alumni relations, and communications.
Hughes' journey in development and fundraising commenced at W&L Law, where she served in various capacities within the Offices of Advancement and Admissions for 13 years. She left W&L in 2016 to lead development efforts at the University of South Carolina School of Law, serving as both the chief fundraising officer for the law school and as interim Executive Director of Development at USC, overseeing the fundraising operations at several academic units, including the College of Education.
Most recently, Hughes has served as the Executive Director of Institutional Philanthropy at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, SC. Beginning in 2020, she spearheaded philanthropic initiatives, contributing to the institution's growth and development. During her tenure, Heathwood saw increased giving to its annual fund and raised close to $8 million in gifts and pledges.
Hughes holds a Bachelor's degree from Presbyterian College and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. She served as a Trustee on the National Panhellenic Council Foundation Board and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Fact Forward and is a member of the Development Committee for the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority Foundation Board.

Mike has spent over 20 years at EY, holding a variety of client-facing and leadership roles. Most recently, he served as the FSO Market Segment Leader for the Southern U.S. and Puerto Rico, where he led a 4,000-person business spanning all service lines. Under his leadership, the region saw a 75% increase in headcount and achieved standout performance across all key business metrics, while unlocking new revenue opportunities through firmwide collaboration.
Known for his commitment to fostering a strong, inclusive culture, Mike is always looking for ways to grow as a leader and support his colleagues. He holds both a BA and MBA from Wake Forest University.
